Szklarska Poręba Karkonosze

Szklarska Poręba – is a city beautifully set in the valley of the Kamienna river and its tributaries at the altitude of 440-886 m above the sea level, in the south on the slopes of Karkonosze Mountains with Szrenica looming over the town ( 1362 m above sea level ), in the north on the slopes of the Izerskie Mountains with Wysoki Kamień ( 1058 m above sea level ) and Czarna Góra ( 965 m above sea level ), whereas from the east the Przedgórze Karkonoszy hills separate the town from Kotlina Jeleniogórska valley. The town is divided into Lower, Middle and Upper Szklarska Poręba. The most extensive is the Upper with the following districts: Śródmieście, Marysin, Szklarka. Szklarska Poręba, with the relatively small number of permanent residents (about 7.3 thousand), occupies a large area of 76 km2, out of which as much as 86% are woodlands. There are not many areas in Poland which favour recreation so much as the region of Szklarska Poręba. Silence, ever-changing landscapes depending on the lighting or the time of the day, combined with the swoosh of crystal clear streams and waterfalls falling in the surroundings of granite rocks – these elements have a soothing effect on human nature.
